Australian Vaccine Services (AVS) is one of Australia's leading specialist corporate flu vaccination services and employee wellbeing providers. AVS completed over 50,000 vaccinations across more than 900 locations nationally in 2015. Each year we work with a range of clients from Federal, State and Local Government departments, large, medium and small businesses, Universities, Councils, and non-for-profits.
Following the decision by the Government to use the Quadrivalent (four strain) vaccine in 2016 for the first time, the government has decided again to use the Quadrivalent vaccine again as part of the national program for the 2017.
In 2017 there will only be Quadrivalent Influenza Vaccines available in Australia. This is the first time that the Trivalent Vaccine will not be available to the Australian market (either public or private). Unlike 2016 where the private market (i.e. AVS) only had access to one manufacturer of the Quadrivalent vaccine, in 2017 there are 3 pharmaceutical companies that will be providing the Quadrivalent vaccine to the Australian market; Seqirus (Australian Made vaccine - former CSL), GSK & Sanofi (only provider to the private market in 2016).
The 2017 Southern Hemisphere flu vaccination strain recommendations have been put forward by the World Health Organisation (WHO). The WHO has recommended that the following composition be used in the Southern Hemisphere Quadrivalent vaccine in 2017:
This represents one strain change to the 2016 Southern Hemisphere Quadrivalent vaccine strain. AVS will be working with all manufacturers in 2017 to ensure that we have a guaranteed supply for our clients. Current estimates for availability of the vaccine in Australia is 2nd - 3rd week of March. With Easter and the school holidays taking place from the 2nd week of April, we highly recommend booking early to ensure you can receive the earliest vaccination slots available and the best preseason pricing.
Australian Vaccine Services employee flu vaccination services are supported by our highly experienced and professional team. AVS can provide one of Australia's most cost effective onsite flu vaccination services and employee wellness programs. Your dedicated AVS project manager will work closely with you to make sure you have all the tools and resources for a seamless implementation of your 2017 flu vaccination and corporate wellness programs.
